
Some of you find the 605 has not enough sound volume, especially for videos (it is more often a problem with the encoding than with the 605 itself). Even if there isn’t any software, as in the iPod world, to unlock the Archos volume, it is possible to gain some by optimizing the settings. First, though it isn’t very ergonomic, mini-dock owners will be able to plug their headsets into the latter. In fact, it gives a little more volume than the PMP itself.
Then, it is possible to improve the volume by choosing a “SPDIF” audio output instead of “Analog”. The difference is not very big (up to 5dB) but that’s something. Watch it, because this config won’t let you set the equalizer. It’s up to you !
