This part deals with the additional features offered by the players "out of the box". The benefits gotten from various hackings are dealt with in the next article.
Basically, you may do the same things with an ITouch or with a 605 : play music or video, surf the web and watch photographs. But there are some little features that may make the difference.

The basic iPod Touch offer a few PDA fuctions : Address book, schedule, clock, calculator, timer, chronometer, alarm. The least you can say is that you can help playing with such a small and user-friendly device. however, there is no mail client or notepad. You cannot create or edit an event in the schedule.
With the 605, it is a different story. No PDA function, but some geek stuff such as a file browser and a strange ’Widgets’ icon, which will allow the launching of Opera widgets, thanks to a plug-in due for Fall 2007. This plug-in will be free but, will need the purchase of the Web-Browser plug-in.
One could bet that Apple and Archos passed an agreement for not implementing ant FM Tuner, built-in microphone or USB Host.
Winner : Apple (until the widgets plug-in is released for the 605)
Score : Archos 5-5 Apple
