While the Archos wins that match, we strongly advise you to think seriously about your purchase ; needs, desires, budget ?

While the 605 benefit from its efficient features (notably on video playback), price and storage size, it is also the bulkiest and will never charm as many eyes as the iTouch, whose innovative and user-friendly interface will turn many heads, along with the marketing power of Apple which manages to conceal the real characteristics of the products... However, the iTouch will offermany interesting features once hacked, whereas the overencrypted firmware of the 605 is much more of a Fort Knox than a Linux... The iPod already supports a mail client and a GPS, two features which seem very difficult to implement on the 605. But the iTouch is no exceptional PMP, and these advantages put it halfway between real PMPs, and real PDAs. And buying a real one, either a PMP or a PDA, costs less, for better results.

Despite the recent arrival of the widgets, the 605 seems stuck in photo & video, though these functions are really enhanced by efficient features such as TV recording or subtitles support. If your interest is more in quality than in appearance, the 605 is definitely the good choice. However, the Archos crashes more often than the iPod (though the firmware updates regularly issues by Archos tend to resolved the problem), and HD technology slightly slows down navigation in comparison with the Flash in the iPod.
