Once again, the iPod will benefit from Apple’s hard work on the interface to knock the 605 down. The itouch indeed offers numerous ways to browse its musical library, the most impressive being the Coverflow effect. When you hold the iPod horizontally, All the covers of your albums appear one next to another, and then you can flick through them just like you would do at Virgin... Tapping a cover makes it turn around leeting you know what songs are on this album. However, this kind of browsing loses much of its interest when your mp3s are not tagged correctly, and few user take te time to patiently tag every single mp3 in their library.
In a more classic way, you may select a song in a list, play in shuffle mode or create playlists on-the-go... But the matter is that the iTouch bieng a single touch screen, you always have to get it out of your pocket to switch tracks or change the volume. The Archos having buttons then appears as an advantage - besides Archos has shapeds the buttons so that you can easily control the 605 blindly - but this theory will become void when the iTouch remote is released...
