This is obvious : Archos has set huge standards with its 4.3-inch-wide, 16-million-color, 800x480-pixel resolution screen. Next to it, the 3.5’’ screen of the iTouch seems pretty ridicule...
The quality of the image on the 605 is astonishing : super fine, with large vision angle so that videos can easily be watch by several people at the same time, there is not much bad to say about it. This screen doesn’t keep much finger marks and you can set brightness, constrast, gamma and retro-lighting as you like it... When ever you want you can access to information about the file (bitrate, résolution, codecs...) simply by tapping a button onthe screen, adjust the image according to the screen, or activate subtitles. Because this is new and very interesting, the Archos 605 reads SRT files ! To sum up, the Archos is almost flawless on this point.

The iPod simply does not fight in the same category. No subtitles, no settings whatsoever except for a basic image/screen adjustement (maximized or original). You may obviously go fast forward or rewind, and you may delete the video once viewed (tiny 16Go storage). Apple really gets a bad grade for this round, and the iTouch does not even have a speaker.
